I still have sry mouth. I always have a bottle of water on my. Proteins do help a body heal. I did not get my peg tube until it was almost too late. Maybe things would have worked out better had I got it first thing. But tell you son to get the hell happy again. My cancer did not respond to the treatments. SO, I am in for a ride again. I now am growing my mustache back getting fuzz on the nape of the neck. You should email me. I will give you more information and a great site to go to for help. HE should visit there. It really helped me a lot. He is 33, had surgery to remove part of his tongue and rebuild it and finished radiation and chem about 3 weeks ago. He never did have to get a feeding tube. He was doing great, except for small bouts of depression, which is understandable, but now he is really depressed. He expected the mucositis to be subsiding and his throat and mouth to start healing. So far there has been little improvement. I think you are a couple of weeks ahead of him and was wondering how you are doing with those 2 issues. I am wondering if the fact that he never had a food tube could account for the slower healing process...that the food (mostly ensure and homemade creamy soups)has slowed down the healing process. Any insights would be helpful.
